Mudfish Hunt

By admin On October 31, 2010 Under Wetland

Mudfish Trapping in a peripheral wetland at Lake Papaitonga. 12 gee-minnow traps were set overnight, catching 4 banded kokopu, one unwell giant kokopu and a multitude of koura. Sadly the mudfish remained elusive… The habitat was raupo and sedge, very little (hard to find) water. There are several different videos linked together here showing the different traps being checked. Please forgive the camera skills, there was no room and we needed far more hands than were present! It gives the idea anyway.
